Laid over in Memphis
It’s strange, reading The Corrections on route to a family weekend. Granted, it’s Mother’s Day, and I’m genuinely excited to see my mom, sister, niece, and brother-in-law, so I’m not talking strange in the parallels or patterns sense. But Franzen evokes real family emotions, some more familiar than I like to publicly admit, and I’m not sure I want those feelings to mix with the next three days.
That, and I just finished the hedge-clipping chapter. My god.
