UPDATE: PSA: When you ask yourself an anonymous question
Say you spot a stranger on the street, blissfully unaware of her skirt tucked into her tights, and she’s walking around with her thong exposed. Or a coworker is talking to you with a piece of spinach in their teeth. You’d tell them, right? Even if it’s a bit awkward.
Friends and Tumblrs: your fly is open.
Here’s the loophole I’ve discovered: on my phone app (Android), I can see when a user asks themselves an “anonymous” question. The cloak of anonymous works fine when seen in a web browser, and maybe even on an iPhone, so it’s possible users are totally unaware of this exposure. But on my phone, the Tumblr’s username and photo appear as the ask as well as the answer, and in the answer they’re addressing themselves as anonymous. It’s amusing (but not in the schadenfreude way), and kind of sweet. Frankly, I understand the approach of a little Q&A to express yourself. Still, I won’t demonstrate this discovery with screen shots.
So you’ve been warned. Your choice if you wanna zip up that fly.
nope, just proved that false
the android app just shows every anon as being sent by the person who replies
i just sent anon asks to myself from my own account, my rp account, and from jen’s account using her android, and when we checked the results on her android they all said they were from me
it’s just a shitty app guys, no need to get excited
Thanks to citruscandy for running some tests. As others have correctly suspected, this is in fact a glitch in the Android app. Turns out my suspicion was wildly speculative, and now I feel like MY fly is down.
